Alan is a technology executive with broad experience in the telecoms, financial services and media environments across the globe. This includes extensive experience leading multi-functional teams working with global customers and suppliers in businesses ranging from large corporations to start-up ventures. He has developed and implemented new technologies in the business environment many times in his career.
At MTV Networks, Alan developed and then implemented a mechanism for sharing a smart card with a competitor to a DTH venture to simplify the consumer experience. He also developed a methodology for reducing the number of satellite transponders necessary to serve cable TV systems – something that was subsequently patented.
At Citigroup, he developed and then implemented Citigroup’s mobile banking strategy in multiple countries. He led a multi-million-dollar investment in a mobile banking start-up and served as Citigroup’s nominated director during the company’s successful IPO.
At SES Americom, as CTO, he led the team that developed the IP PRIME platform, which delivered several hundred IPTV channels to telecom operators to enable them to compete effectively with cable TV operators.
As CTO of Encompass Digital Media, Alan led the development of the company’s strategy for using metadata to re-use the broadcast origination for OTT. Alan is now the COO of Crystal Computer Corporation where he leads all aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations from Sales, Delivery to Service.
Alan earned a Masters in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of York in the U.K in 1988. He is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (F.I.E.T). He is a proven innovator and problem solver as the holder of two patents with three others applied for.
